Cost of college went up for all students at Indiana University-Bloomington

In-state tuition and fees rose 1.4 percent for 2018-19 at Indiana University-Bloomington, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Indiana residents paid $10,681 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $148 more than the $10,533 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 232 percent more than residents this year, or $35,456. Their price tag grew 1.8 percent from $34,845 in 2017-18.

About 57 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Indiana residents. About 35 percent are residents of other states and 7 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 77 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 5,003 students received grants or scholarships totaling $58.2 million and 2,794 students took out student loans totaling more than $21.9 million.

Including all undergraduates (43,503), 21,347 students used grants or scholarships totaling $234 million, and 11,016 students took out $69.9 million in federal student loans.
