Grenadiers Get Past Ohio Christian 81-76

Jocobi Hendricks had 25 points and seven rebounds, Christian Stewart had 19 points and nine rebounds, Anthony Wales Jr. had 13 points and seven rebounds and J.J. Reed added 10 points in the win.

Jocobi Hendricks scored to cap off a 16-4 run to start the game for IU Southeast seven minutes into the contest.

A 14-0 run by the Trailblazers got them back into the contest. A three-pointer by Kaleb Smtih followed by a Casius Bell Jr. layup and three-pointer put Ohio Christian in front.

The lead seesawed back-and-forth for the remainder of the half. Jocobi Hendricks tied the game with a layup and a three-point play by Anthony Wales Jr. gave the Grenadiers a 39-36 lead.

IU Southeast led 39-38 at halftime.

Jocobi Hendricks had 12 points to lead IU Southeast in the opening half.

In the second half, Devon Miller scored to extend the Ohio Christian to 59-55 halfway through the period.

IU Southeast used a 10-2 run to take the lead and they would never trail again.  J.J. Reed sparked the run with back-to-back three-pointers.

Jocobi Hendricks hit a three-pointer and a layup to extend the Grenadier lead to 70-64 with 5:35 to play.

After the Trailblazers cut the lead to 76-72 with 57 seconds left, Hendricks got a steal and was fouled and hit both free throws.

After a couple of missed Ohio Christian free throws, Hendricks got the rebound and sealed the win with two more free throws. He was 4-of-5 at the line in

the second half to help secure the win.

IU Southeast allowed Ohio Christian to shoot 50 percent from the field but the Trailblazers were only 57 percent from the free-throw line in the game while

the Grenadiers were 19-of-21 and 11-of-13 in the second half.

IU Southeast forced 17 turnovers and scored 22 points off of turnovers in the contest.

The Grenadiers travel to Rio Grande Saturday at 3 p.m.
