Grenadiers Defeat Goshen and Lourdes in Weekend Homestand
The Grenadiers started the game against Goshen strong, holding a 23-12 lead after the first quarter. Goshen outscored IU Southeast in the second quarter 22-20, but the Grenadiers still held a 43-34 lead at the half.
Goshen cut the Grenadier lead to three at 51-48 in the third quarter, but the Grenadiers extended their lead back to 12 at 64-52 following an Emmy Ralph three. IU Southeast led 68-53 after the third quarter and went on to win 81-65.
Emmy Ralph led the Grenadiers with 24 points. Lauren Lambdin scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Alex Maher scored eight points and grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds off the bench.
Lourdes opened the game on Saturday with back-to-back threes to take a 6-2 lead. IU Southeast took a 9-8 lead following an Emmy Ralph jumper. Trailing 11-8, Lourdes scored five straight points to take a 13-11 lead. Emmy Ralph hit a three at the first quarter buzzer to give the Grenadiers an 18-16 lead.
An Abby Young layup gave IU Southeast a 29-23 lead midway through the second quarter. A 14-0 Grenadier run extended the IU Southeast lead to 43-25. A Lauren Lambdin layup gave the Grenadiers a 47-27 halftime lead.
The Grenadiers took a 20-point lead again at 55-35 following a Sierra Graham basket. Lourdes responded with a 10-0 run to narrow the Grenadier lead to 55-45. IU Southeast extended their lead to 15 at 61-46, but Lourdes cut the deficit to 10 once again at 63-53 at the end of the third quarter.
Brynna Blackburn hit a three to open the fourth quarter to give IU Southeast a 66-53 lead. An 8-0 run by Lauren Lambdin extended the Grenadier lead to 20 at 77-57. The Grenadiers led by as many as 22 and went on to win 84-62.
Five Grenadiers scored in double figures in the contest. Lauren Lambdin scored a team-high 20 points for IU Southeast. Emmy Ralph scored 18 points and dished out three assists. Sierra Graham recorded a double-double, scoring 15 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Leah Miller added 10 and Abby Young scored a career-high 11 points.
IU Southeast moved to 9-4 after the weekend homestand. The Grenadiers travel to IU East on Tuesday for their last game of 2022.
