For many, the start of December signifies a joyous start to the holiday season. Christmas decorations start to fill living rooms around the world with colorful bulbs and decadent ornaments, and stockings are hung by chimneys with care waiting to be stuffed on Christmas Eve.

For others, the holiday season is a demanding reminder of its financial burdens. While many children wake up to a tree surrounded by presents on Christmas morning, some have never had that experience of their own.

That’s why Rural King is holding a toy drive this holiday season, collecting donations to all children in need of new toys.

“Remember what it was like to see presents on Christmas morning?" MyRadioLink wrote in a recent release, highlighting the drive. "Now, think about this: some kids, right here at home, have no idea what that’s like. But you can change that with a donation to girls and boys in need of new toys at your nearby Rural King! Christmas started with a child, and around here that’s what it will always be about."

According to a recent WalletHub Holiday Shopping survey, 50% of respondents said Santa will be less generous this year due to inflation.

Among these, 40% of Americans reported they would be forgoing holiday gifts this year due to inflation and nearly half of respondents said they will not be able to pay for their holiday purchases in full by the due date this year.

The survey, analyzing American consumers’ spending for the holiday season, took in data from 400 online respondents, normalizing by age, gender and income to reflect U.S. demographics.

This comes as a 2020 CNBC report states 16% of parents said they would be willing to go into debt to buy holiday presents for their children.

Donations will be accepted through Sunday, Dec. 18. Drop-offs will be accepted at Rural King stores at the following locations:
