Trevor Campbell Named 2023 Naia Preseason All-American

Third baseman Trevor Campbell was named to the 2023 NAIA Presesson Baseball All-American Team on Tuesday.

Campbell, a Louisville native, was named the 2021-22 River States Conference Male Athlete of the Year and the 2022 RSC Baseball Player of the Year and was a NAIA All-American Second Team selection after a stellar season.

Campbell's 2022 season had him carrry a .421 batting average into the national tournament. He was ninth in the NAIA with 93 hits in 55 games, and he was third in the country with 27 doubles. Campbell also posted 10 home runs, 53 RBIs and was 25 for 28 in stolen bases.

He helped lead the Grenadiers to the RSC Baseball Championship title and the NAIA National Championship Opening Round as the team finished with a 40-15 record and went 20-4 in conference play.

The 17-player Preseason Baseball All-America Team is selected annually by the NAIA-Baseball Coaches Association (NAIA-BCA) All-America Committee. For more information on NAIA Baseball, click here.

Four starting pitchers are included as well as one relief pitcher while the list included four infielders in addition to two behind the dish. The outfield features four players and the last two spots go to a utility player and a designated hitter.

This season, six student-athletes were selected as First Team All-American's last spring including National Pitcher of the Year Robb Adams. Seven more were named to the Second Team of the All-America list, while the final four members were recognized as Honorable Mentions. There are no carry overs from the preseason list last year.

Of the 19 conferences sponsoring baseball in the NAIA, 12 are represented on the 2022 edition of the Preseason All-America Team. The Crossroads League leads the way with three recipients, followed by The Sun Conference, Sooner Athletic Conference, and North Star Athletic Association with two each. There are single members from the American Midwest, Appalachian, Cascade, Chicagoland, Heart of America, Mid-South, Red River, and River States.
