Grenadiers Fall To Iu Kokomo On Tuesday

The IU Southeast volleyball team fell in three sets to IU Kokomo in an RSC match on Tuesday.

The Grenadiers took an early 5-2 lead in the first set following a kill by Jessi Kramer. IU Kokomo went on a 4-0 run to tie the set at 6-6. Leading 16-14 later in the set, IU Kokomo used a 9-1 run to take the first set 25-15.

IU Kokomo jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the second set. The Grenadiers closed the gap to 12-9, but the Cougars were able to extend their lead to 18-9 with a 6-0 run. IU Southeast used a 5-0 run later in the second set to narrow the lead to 21-16, but IU Kokomo went on to win the set 25-17 to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

The two teams found themselves tied at 5-5 to begin the third set. IU Kokomo went on a 13-0 run to take a commanding 18-5 lead. The Grenadiers were not able to close the gap as IU Kokomo took the third set 25-10 and the match 3-0.

Jessi Kramer led the Grenadiers with ten kills. Cate Murphy led IU Southeast with 14 assists and was second in digs with six. Averee Yoder added 12 digs to lead the team.

The Grenadiers (8-6, 4-1 RSC) return home to host Point Park and Carlow this weekend.
