2022 Rsc Volleyball Coaches' Poll Released With Iu Southeast Picked Fourth

2022 Rsc Volleyball Coaches' Poll Released With Iu Southeast Picked Fourth

The IU Southeast volleyball team was picked fourth in the 2022 River States Conference Volleyball Coaches' Preseason Poll released Wednesday (Aug. 10) by the conference office.

The Grenadiers advanced to the semifinals of the RSC Volleyball Championship and finished the year 18-12 and 12-5 in conference play. Emilee Organ was recognized as a RSC All-Conference Second Team selection.

U Kokomo amassed 132 votes in the poll and 11 first-place votes. The Cougars have won the last four RSC Championship tournament titles. Last year, IU Kokomo racked up a record of 28-9 overall, 16-1 RSC on their way to another conference crown. The Cougars were in the NAIA National Championship as a perennial qualifier.

Midway (Ky.) University was picked second in the poll with 115 votes. The Eagles were RSC Championship finalists last year and made their first NAIA nationals appearance with a record of 24-5 overall, 14-3 RSC on the year.

Indiana University East took third in the poll with 112 votes and the only other first-place vote. The Red Wolves won the RSC East Division last year, reached the RSC semifinals and posted a record of 20-12, 14-4 RSC.

Indiana University Southeast came in fourth in the voting with 102 votes.

With IU East moving to the RSC West Division this year, that means the top four teams in this year's preseason poll all hail from that side of the conference.

University of Rio Grande (Ohio) was predicted fifth overall in the poll with 88 votes and the first team from the RSC East. The RedStorm was 12-15 overall and 10-8 RSC last year as an RSC quarterfinalist.

Point Park (Pa.) University took sixth in the poll with 82 votes. The Pioneers took second in the RSC East last year at 17-11 overall, 12-6 RSC.

WVU Tech (72 votes) made it three RSC East teams in a row at seventh overall. Next was St. Mary-of-the-Woods (Ind.) College (69) in eighth from the RSC West as the predicted final playoff qualifier of the 13 teams in the league.

The top eight teams that come out on top of the RSC volleyball point system will qualify for the postseason this year. The conference championship will be hosted by the team from the RSC East that has the most points.
