No. 18 Grenadiers Complete Sweep of Ohio Christian on Sunday

Indiana University Southeast Athletics recently issued the following announcement.

NO. 18 GRENADIERS COMPLETE SWEEP OF OHIO CHRISTIAN ON SUNDAY

The No. 18-ranked IU Southeast baseball team completed a three-game sweep of Ohio Christian with 9-0 and 14-7 wins on Sunday.

In game one, Marco Romero opened the scoring in the bottom of the first when he doubled down the right-field line to score Trevor Campbell, who had singled.

In the fourth, Brandon Boxer singled and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Blake Cook. Derek Wagner singled to center to drive in Boxer.

Starter Hunter Kloke was dominant for the Grenadiers in his seven scoreless innings of work. He allowed three hits and a walk while striking out 11.

IU Southeast (15-8, 6-0 RSC) added a run in the seventh when John Ullom tripled to score Brayden Hazelwood.

The Grenadiers blew the game open with a six-run eighth inning. Blake Cook doubled to drive in Boxer and Romero. 

Trevor MacDonald hit a two-run home run to right, his third of the season and Clay Woeste hit a two-run double down the line in left.

Marco Romero had two hits, a run scored and a RBi in the win.

In game two, IU Southeast jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Marco Romero had a RBI single and scored on a Brandon Boxer double. 

Ben Berenda knocked him in with a single to right and Tyler Mills scored after John Ullom got caught in a pickoff attempt but the throw home got away.

In the third, RBI singles by Berenda, Ray Aponte and Trevor MacDonald extended the Grenadier lead to 7-1.

A six-run fifth inning capped off the offensive output for the Grenadiers. John Ullom tripled and scored on a wild pitch. 

Brody Tanksley hit a two-run double to left to bring in Mills and Hazelwood. 

Blake Cook came through once again with a single to drive in Tanksley and Ullom singled to drive in Cook.

Brendan Koester worked four innings of one run baseball. He allowed one hit and a walk while striking out three. 

Cade Reynolds allowed a run on three hits while striking out three in relief.

Jouh Ullom went 4-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI. Ben Berenda had two hits and drove in two.

IU Southeast hosts Georgetown College Tuesday at 4 p.m.
