Indiana University Southeast Athletics recently issued the following announcement.

GRENADIERS DROP DOUBLEHEADER TO ST.MARY-OF-THE-WOODS SUNDAY

The IU Southeast softball team fell 11-4 and 4-2 to St. Mary-of-the-Woods on Sunday.

In game one, IU Southeast jumped to a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first when Ellie Jackman hit a two-run home run, her second of the season.

But the Pomeroys answered back in the bottom of the first with a four-run outburst. Three RBI singles and a sacrifice fly made it 4-0.

IU Southeast got a run back in the top of the second when Lindsey Nelson singled to center to score Katie Cook.

But a four-run third inning put the game out of reach. A pair of singles and an error drove in the first run as Madelyn Richey scored. Another error knocked in another run and a ground out and sacrifice fly extended the lead.

Lindsey Nelson was 3-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI and Ellie Jackman had two hits and drove in two. Katie Templeman added a pair of hits in the loss.

In game two, the Pomeroys took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third when Caitlyn Bowersock scored on a wild pitch. Then Camyrn Scott scored on a passed ball.

Two RBI singles by Bowersock and Scott doubled the lead in the fifth.

IU Southeast got on the board in the sixth when Jackman singled to score Katie Templeman. In the seventh, Erin Templeman singled to right to drive in Hannah Nunemaker who had reached on an error.

IU Southeast travels to Georgetown College on Tuesday.
