Indiana University Southeast Athletics issued the following announcement on Mar 3.
Six Grenadiers scored in double figures but it was not enough as Ohio Christian defeated IU Southeast 95-82 in the River States Conference Women's Basketball Championship game Tuesday.
Ohio Christian (21-11) shot 54 percent from the field in the game and shot 58 percent (19-of-33) in the first half to help jump out to a double-digit lead.
The turning point in the game was the second quarter when the Trailblazers outscored the Grenadiers 25-8. The Grenadiers (20-12) shot 3-of-17 from the field in the quarter and were just 2-of-7 from behind-the-arc as they had trouble managing the Ohio Christian defense.
IU Southeast trailed 48-34 at halftime, Madi Woods had 19 points to lead the Grenadiers.
The Grenadiers battled back in the third quarter and were able to hit some shot and set up a press which led to some turnovers. Hannah Coleman scored eight of her 16 points in the third quarter to help spark the offense. Natalie Fichter hit a three-pointer with 22 seconds left in the period to cut the lead to seven and Ohio Christian led 69-60 heading to the fourth quarter.
Lauren Lambdin took over the in the fourth quarter, scoring 11 of her 16 points in the frame. The Grenadiers could not get closer than six points after a steal by Lambdin and a layup by Knight with 7:23 to play.
Staci Dinsmore had an answer each time the Grenadiers would get within arm's reach. She had 35 points in the game and 12 in the quarter. Helaina Limas had 27 points on 8-of-10 shooting and was 10-of-10 from the line.
Once the lead was cut to six, Dinsmore hit two free throws and then Ohio Christian foraced a turnover and converted to extend the lead back to 79-69 and IU Southeast would not get closer than eight points the remainder of the night.
IU Southeast committed 17 turnovers in the game which led to 30 points and Ohio Christian was a perfect 26-for-26 from the free-throw line.
Hannah Coleman had 16 points and 11 rebounds in her final collegiate start. Lauren Lambdin added 16 points. Fellow seniors Ariana Sandefur and Madi Woods had 13 points and 12 points, respectively. Emmy Ralph had 11 points and Natalie Fichter had 10.
