The Indiana University Board of Trustees has approved new residence hall and dining rates for the 2026-27 academic year across its campuses. The decision was made during the board’s meeting on December 5, with rate increases for standard room and board set at or below 3% compared to the previous year.

Donald Lukes, IU treasurer, said, “Indiana University remains committed to managing costs responsibly while continuing to strategically invest in the upkeep and enhancement of our housing and dining facilities. The approved rate increases will support ongoing renovation, maintenance and operations, ensuring our residence halls and dining services remain safe, modern and student-centered.”

At Indiana University Bloomington, students will see a 2% increase in standard room and board rates, totaling $12,679 per year. At IU Indianapolis, rates for the most common room type will rise by 1.68%, bringing the annual cost to $13,555.

IU South Bend will implement a 3% increase in room rates across all types; the most prevalent rate is now $7,160 per year. Residents there are also required to purchase a dining plan that includes $824 toward the lowest-tier option.

IU Southeast’s room rates will also go up by 3%, with the most common rate set at $9,120 annually. Additionally, IU Southeast will introduce a mandatory meal plan costing $800 for the academic year as part of its expanded campus dining options.

Dining plan rates are set to increase by 2% at both IU Bloomington and IU Indianapolis as well.
